TED Technology 6th Sense Technology

I have been reading about TED 6th sense technology and in the future what this could mean for our society. It helps to present information in the context of a user setting.

For example (from the video link) if in a supermarket ... wanting to know the brand of paper that is more ecological... right then and there the information would be visible to the user.

The thought of this is both incredible and a little frightening. In world where our location and buying habits and details can all be tracked by different mediums here is an all in one place. Not just location tracking but what we search for the decisions we make (aided by context information, possibly advertising suggestion from TED). Will this be seen as a means for push advertising by companies ?

Is this a step too far ...

I am amazed by it, this technology takes applications, usability and HCI to a new level.

The Google Telephone

The google home telephone is such a unique idea that revolutionises the way we see home telephones ... (sounding a little like apple blurb) but really I think it is a new idea into the home.  Having a home telephone that runs andriod ... allows you to do so much.  In terms of usability the one downside is that your google contacts do not sync with the phone but .. for a first attempt not bad ...
